Description: The shamisen is a lute-like instrument with three strings. The strings are different sizes with the top string being the thickest. At the bottom of the instrument the strings are stretched over the koma, which in turn rests on a skin that has been stretched over a hollow, square box.
Appraise: The long shamisen is about two and a half feet long and about six inches wide. It is made of wood and appears to be a musical instrument from the stringed family.
