Quow's Pre-Configured Portable Discworld MUSHclient, updated November 02nd, 2024
Download Discworld-Pre-Configured MUSHclient v5.06 [15.6 MB]
MUSHclient is a completely free Windows MUD client, that supports many advanced features and plugins. It can also be run successfully under Wine for Linux.
It is created and maintained by Nick Gammon, and you can always get the latest official versions of Mushclient from the Mushclient Download Page.
MUSHclient was not created by me (Quow). This page is for people who want a simple, portable version of MUSHclient pre-configured with my plugins running and ready to go for the Discworld MUD.
Nick Gammon gives his permission for people to release these pre-configured packages.

Quow's Pre-Configured Portable Discworld MUSHclient:
Simply unzip this folder somewhere sensible (such as a "Discworld" or "MUSHclient" folder on your desktop, or on a portable USB stick, or on your D:\ drive - it's best to avoid the main Windows system C: drive).

Then run the "MUSHclient.exe" file within.

No need to create any "worlds", try to add plugins or anything else - it's all done for you, it'll automatically connect to the Discworld the moment you launch the program!

Once you have logged into your character, you may wish to run the command "minimap discworldconfig" to set some Discworld-side options that help the CowBar and Minimap run more reliably - this is optional.

This portable package ALWAYS has all of the latest versions of all plugins within, no need to update them separately.

Plugin Summaries:
Cow Bar & Minimap is my huge graphical minimap, GPS, speedwalk, and UI overhaul, "Quow's Cow Bar". This is a huge plugin that creates a number of "miniwindows" on your screen, each with it's own set of data and features in, and each with it's own right-click menu. You should spend some time right-clicking on each individual window, and explore the options, commands, and features, to configure it to your playstyle (for example, add talker channels to the Comms window, or enabling HP Loss Notifications from the health bar, or XP notifications from the XP window, etc. etc. etc.). The map part acts as a GPS, tracking your location, and includes facilities for searching for street names, shop names, and item names, along with giving you facilities for bookmarking locations, and speedwalking to and from any valid location on the Disc with a couple of clicks. There is also an entire unified terrains map compiled by Quow to show you every possible terrain location currently available on the Disc.

The Cow Bar from v3.9+ also includes the old, and now overhauled, MDT plugin. This completely changes the output of the written map and "map door text" sent by the MUD, into a sorted list, giving each room a "score" base on what is or isn't in the room, and showing the highest score rooms at the bottom of the list. You can easily modify, remove, or add your own highlights and scores - from things you hunt regularly, to letter delivery targets, to lootworthy richfolk, though there are many default highlights and categories already included.

My "Spellcheck & Mindspace" plugin lets you look up any wizzard or witch spell by acronym (eg try "mindspace jpct"), or lookup a skill to see what spells use it and might TM it best (eg "mindspace healing"). For wizzards it will also tell you how much mindspace you have free for remembering more spells whenever you type "spells" or "spells uncategorised". You should update it with your current magic skills first though, by doing "mindspace skills" and "mindspace".

Sample Colour Triggers plugin includes a bunch of random triggers that re-colour text from the MUD, such as shield breaks, fumbles, item snatches. It is considered a "tutorial plugin" - if you edit the .xml plugin file (load it in any decent text editor), it is full of comments that show you how each trigger works, what each setting does, and how to easily add or edit your own colour (and even sound) triggers in plugin-form.

The Missions & Job Timers plugin is a simple plugin that tries to tell you when you last completed certain missions (the AM job market missions, post-office dead letter delivery missions, and a few other of the more popular missions). It will give you a notice 1 hour after completing a mission, so you know you can repeat the mission for full reward again, and let you lookup all current mission cooldowns with the "missions" command.

EFF Stats & Advice tracks your current EFF usage and can give useful stats about your current block rate and knockdown rate with "eff stats", which is resettable with "eff reset". It can also tell wizzards what floater they should try based on their current skills, by typing "eff suggest".

Klein Bottle helper is only useful for wizzards who use a Klein bottle. It tells you what spells you can capture safely without exploding the bottle whenever you "look" at a valid Klein bottle.
