MUSHclient is a completely free Windows MUD client, that supports many advanced features and plugins. It can also be run successfully under Wine for Linux.
It is created and maintained by Nick Gammon. MUSHclient was not created by me (Quow).
This page is for people who want a simple, portable version of MUSHclient pre-configured with my plugins running and ready to go for the Discworld MUD, aimed at screenreader users.
It should work with common screenreader software, and you can use all of the search tools of my plugins with text commands only, and easy ways to speedwalk to locations, and bookmark common spots.

Simply unzip this folder somewhere sensible (such as a "Discworld" or "MUSHclient" folder on your desktop, or on a portable USB stick, or on your D:\ drive - it's best to avoid the main Windows system C: drive).
Then run the "MUSHclient.exe" file within.
No need to create any "worlds", try to add plugins or anything else - it's all done for you, it'll automatically connect to the Discworld the moment you launch the program!
This portable package ALWAYS has all of the latest versions of all plugins within, no need to update them separately.

Mushreader: This is the core plugin to allow text to speech. The command "tts" turns speech on/off, and the command "ftts" toggles if output from the client will be announced while you are tabbed to another window.
Output Functions: This plugin helps with the storage and navigation of text received from the mud. It creates a notepad-like output buffer with output from the mud in for easy navigation, and adds a set of hotkey commands to aid in navigating MUD output. These commands are;
Control+(1-0): Holding control while pressing the numbers 1 through to 0 will speak back the specific line, eg the last line, the second to last line, etc. all the way up to ten lines back. Pressing these keys twice in succession will copy the particular line to the clipboard. Pressing these keys three times in succession will paste the particular line to the input window.
Control+tab: Switch between the input window and the output buffer. The buffer contains all the text sent by the mud, easily accessible in an editable window.
Control+alt+o: Turns the output buffer on and off. This only switches appending to the output buffer; the existing buffer is not destroyed.
These following commands work while being in the input window, rather than having to manually switch to the output buffer;
Control+shift+(u, i, o): These three will either go to the previous line, speak the current line, or go to the next line, respectively.
Control+shift+(y, n): Go to the top or bottom of the output buffer.
Control+shift+space: Begin the process of selection. Selection starts from where the cursor (e.g. the line announced by ctrl+shift+i) is located currently. Navigating to another line by the commands specified above, and pressing the same keystroke, will copy a block of text into the clipboard (from the first line to the line navigated to, inclusive).
Notes for using Quow's plugins:
Huge parts of the minimap plugin are accessible with commands alone. The core functionality is completely usable (searching for items/npcs/shops and looking up inventories, descriptions, streets, and speedwalking to any of them easily), plus bookmarking common locations such as your house, the job market, the Drum, banks, wherever, and giving those bookmarks custom names so you can instantly speedwalk to any of them with a single command. The only parts which are currently inaccessible are the auxiliary windows (experience rate, group shields, combat stats). It is heavily recommended to read help minimap and type minimap commands, and explore all the plugin has to offer.
If you are a magic-user, either a witch or a wizard, or somebody that wants to cast spells from scrolls, explore "help mindspace" too, the mindspace and spellcheck plugin is fully accessible with a screenreader, and will be a huge help to anybody interested in spells, how many skills they need to cast them, and so on.
For those that like to do the repeatable missions for earning experience and money, such as those at the Ankh-Morpork job market, or the dead letter office, or sausage making, or others, the missions timer plugin will automatically monitor missions you complete, and inform you an hour after completing any that you can now do another. Explore "missions help" (note the word missions before help, not help missions) for some additional commands and features.
If you use the command "minimap discworldconfig" to set Discworld-side options up automatically, use the command "minimap omitmap" afterwards to hide the ascii map, as discworldconfig will enable the ascii map being sent from the mud, which is found in the Discworld-side "options output map" settings.
